Jr. High girls split in Cape.

The Oran Junior High School girls basketball teams won one and lost one last night at Cape Central.  The seventh-grade remained undefeated by picking up a 42-16 victory.  The eighth-grade tasted defeat for the first time this season falling 31-21.

Of the seventh-grade game, Coach Ethan Evans said, "I didn’t think we played our best basketball but we turned it on enough in the 2nd half to pull away."

Addie Nichols poured in 27 to lead the Eagles.  She hit two from beyond the arc.  Bralynn Morgan added eight.  Lily Knotts scored four and Scarlett Schlosser hit a trey to round out the scoring.

They were 5-10 from the line for 50%.  They improved to 10-0 on the year.

In the nightcap, Oran trailed 10-8 at the half but was unable to stage a comeback.

Evans said, "We didn’t play well offensively the whole game. We missed way too many easy shots. Defensively we held them in check but we have to have more production on the offensive end."

Grace Davis had 15 of the Eagles' 21 points.  She hit one from long-range.  Nichols scored four and Liza Dannenmueller added a field goal.

They were 4 of 6 at the charity stripe for 67% and with the loss fell to 10-1

The girls will be back in action this evening when they travel to conference rival Delta for a 6 pm contest.
