7th-grade season ends, 8th-grade advances

The Oran Junior High School boys basketball teams participated in the Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament that began at Kelly High School yesterday.

The older boys played first and defeated the Scott County Central Braves, 58-15 to advance to Monday's quarterfinal match up against the winner of Saturday's East Prairie (2) and Kelly (7) contest.  Monday's game is scheduled to tip at 7:30 pm.  The winner will move on to Tuesday's championship game that also is scheduled for 7:30.

Oran jumped out to a 23-2 first quarter lead and cruised to the 43 point win.

The Eagles had three reach double digits.  Camdyn Triblett topped all with 16 points.  Parker Diebold put in 12 and Luke Peterson added 11.  Peterson hit a trey.

Oran hit 2 of 7 from the charity stripe for 29%.  They improved their mark to 7-5.

The seventh-grade squad was unable to dent the scoreboard until the third period of Saturday's game against Chaffee, by that time they were down 10-0.  The Eagles were able to get within eight (13-5) before the Red Devils went on another run and claimed a 31-9 win to end Oran's season with a 2-10 record.

Brenden Campbell hit a trey to account for his points.  Elijah Shoemaker and Jon Tucker each hit a field goal, while Cody Albritton and Drake Dannenmueller both hit a free throw.
