Thanksgiving week will make for a short week of sports for our local school.
On Monday, the eighth-grade boys will take on either East Prairie or Kelly at 7:30 at Kelly in the semi-final round of the Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament.
Also on Monday, the high school girls open their season by hosting the Malden Greenwave at 6 pm. Last year, the Lady Eagles prevailed 81-24 on the road. The junior varsity also picked up a win, 38-24. The class 3 Greenwave, who compete in the Bootheel Conference, finished last season with a 12-13 record, losing in the first round of the C3D1 tournament.
If the boys win on Monday, they will advance to Tuesday's championship game against either Scott City or Chaffee. That game is slated to tip at 7:30, also.
The girls will be right back at it on Tuesday as well. They will host conference foe, Scott County Central in a varsity only tilt at 6. Last season Oran defeated the Bravettes three times. SCC finished 18-12 and advanced to the Class 1 quarterfinal game.
