Eagles bounce Bobcats

The fourth-seeded Oran varsity boys basketball team faced off against the Delta Bobcats for the second time in as many weeks last night in the Semissourian Christmas tournament.  On December 18th, the Eagles won a nailbiter, 67-64.  The second meeting lacked the dramatics, as Oran defeated the sixth-seeded Bobcats 72-53 to claim the fifth-place plaque.

It was the second year in a row that the Eagles finished fifth in the sixteen team event.

The game was tied after one at 16.  Oran was up five, 28-23 at the break.  The lead was 10 after three, 47-37 and the Eagles expanded it by nine over the last eight minutes as the Bobcats lost two starter due to fouls.

Tyson Goodale and Jacob Shoemaker each scored 18 to lead all scorers.  Goodale hit a trey and Shoemaker nailed four.  Shoemaker hit three straight three's in the third to help provide additional margin.  Todd Priggel finished with 15 and was 9-10 at the line.  Ty Johnson added 12.

Cooper Priggel made both of his free throw attempts to round out the Eagle scoring.

As a team, they hit 20-25 from the free throw line for 80% and improved to 10-1 on the season.

They travel to district foe Meadow Heights on Friday to take on the Panthers at 6 pm.

Shoemaker was named to the All-Tournament Team.
