Eagles advance to day four, pound Red Devils

The fourth-seeded Oran varsity boys basketball team moved on to the final day of the SeMissourian Christmas Tournament by virtue of a 61-26 thumping of the ninth-seeded Chaffee Red Devils.

The Eagles started slowly, committing three turnovers and missing a shot, during their first four possessions, looking like a team that had dropped a tough overtime decision in the late game the night before.  After that, though, they began hitting on all cylinders, thanks in large part to Cooper Priggel, who hit three three's in the first period.  Oran led 20-7 after one.

It was 36-16 at the break and the Eagles outscored their conference foe, 25-10 the rest of the way.

Oran only had four players score, but they all reached double-digits.

Jacob Shoemaker led the way, with 22.  He hit three from beyond the arc.  Todd Priggel added 15, six of those points coming from long range.  Cooper Priggel finished with 14.  He totaled four treys.  Langdon Scheeter had 10 points.

They were 8 for 11 from the line, for 73%.  The Eagles are now 9-1 and will take on another conference opponent, sixth-seeded Delta, at 4:30 today (Saturday) for the fifth-place trophy.  The Eagles squeaked by the Bobcats at home on December 18th, 67-64.
