Lady Eagles hammer Hornets

The Oran High School softball team traveled to Advance on Thursday and picked up a 13-1 six inning victory.

The visitors used four singles, a walk, an error and a sac fly to take a 5-0 lead in the top of the first and never looked back.

Coach Jim Eftink said, "[It was] nearly a perfect game for us. We got on top in the first inning and kinda took care of business after that."

Alyssa Spane (3-2) went the distance in the circle.  She gave up one unearned run on four hits.  She struck out two and did not walk a batter.

Coach  Eftink added "Alyssa was strong on the mound, she was hitting her spots throughout the game"

Katelyn Streeter, Rylee Boshell and Taylor Lowes each had two RBI.  Lowes had three hits, while Leah Cauble and Streeter had two apiece.  Streeter had two triples.

Eftink commented, "Katelyn probably had a career best at the plate. She had two triples—one of them nearly an inside the park homer. She got thrown out on a close play at the plate."

Eftink also mentioned, "Nice defense. Wind made it tough on outfielders but they made  the plays even with the ball being blown around. And it was great to see a 6-4-3 double play! You don’t see that very often in high school softball."

Oran improved to 8-4 and will travel to Leopold on Tuesday to take on the Wildcats at 4:30.
