Boys tip off on Monday

The Oran High School boys varsity basketball team will open its season on Monday when they begin defense of their back-to-back Oran Invitational Tournament titles.  The top-seed Eagles will take on the eighth-seeded Bell City Cubs at 5 pm.

Last year, the Eagles finished second in Class 2 with a 30-2 record.  But, just like the Lady Eagles, the boys lost a "once in a blue moon" type player in Jacob Shoemaker.  Shoemaker finished with over 2,000 career points and was named All-State his sophomore, junior and senior years.  He is now playing at Three Rivers College.
