Jayvee boys jump out early defeat Woodland

The Oran junior varsity boys basketball team improved to 3-0 with a win in the opening round of the Advance JV tournament last night.  The second-seeded Eagles beat the seventh-seeded Woodland Cardinals 56-27.

Oran led 20-8 after one and 28-15 at the break, after three, it was 47-22 on the way to a 29 point victory.

Seth Cauble led all scorers with 20.  He hit two from beyond the arc.

Kolton Payne had nine points.  Diesel Cato, Nick Romas and Camdyn Triblett each added six.  Landon Cochran had four, Robbie Menz hit a trey and Riley Schlosser scored two.

Coach Joe Bickings said, "We came out of the gates hot with our shooting but then we went really cold from the outside.  We have to understand that when we aren't shooting it extremely well from the outside that we need to look inside or try to penetrate to get higher percentage shots.  Maybe we can get to the foul line and shoot some free throws and see the ball going in and that could help us with our outside shots.  We made some adjustments at halftime and I thought the kids executed a lot better at getting the ball inside and just moving on the outside.  At times we didn't rebound or communicate on defense as much as I would like.  We have to get better at those two things.  The kids did play hard and that is what I ask from them."

Oran will face East Prairie on Wednesday in a semifinal matchup in the Main gym at 6;15.  East Prairie is the six-seed, they upset the third-seeded Chaffee Red Devils last night by a score of 48-40.
