The Lady Eagles junior high volleyball teams split their home matches with the Sikeston Bulldogs tonight.
8th Grade Action: It took three sets but the Oran managed to pick up a win against Sikeston. The Eagles took the first 25-23 and dropped the second 13-25. Oran won the rubber game 25-16.
A large portion of the Lady Eagles success came in the form of the strong serving arm of Jessica Long who had 14 service points, 5 aces and 2 kills. Setter Cassie Cochran had 2 assists. The Eighth grade is now 2-2 on the season.
7th Grade Action: Oran lost in straight sets to Sikeston in the evening's opener. The Eagles held their own in the first set before losing 18-25. It was all Sikeston in second and deciding set as Oran lost 10-25.
Bailey Shipley had six service points, three aces and an assist. Lyndsi Bryant also had six service points and two aces for the Seventh grade squad that now has a record of 1-3.
Upcoming Action: The teams will have two matches next week. They travel to Charleston on Tuesday and Richland on Thursday. Both contests start at 6 pm.
