Eagles Drub Devils

For the first inning and a half yesterday's home contest with Chaffee was a pitcher's duel.  The first nine batters of the game were retired. Only one pitcher was able to maintain that, however, as the Eagles won in a laugher over their conference foe 13-0.

Oran ended that nine batter streak when Hunter Schlosser opened the bottom of the second with a single; he was forced at second base, but six of the next seven batters reached.  The one batter that didn't, Ben Heuring, had the game's first rbi on a sacrifice fly.  That was followed by a Tanner McVay two rbi single that made the score 3-0. The Eagles batted 11 in the inning and scored seven.

Oran's offense continued to roll in the third inning as they sent 12 to the plate and scored six more runs. The big blow was a two-out two-run double by Preston Hahn that pushed the lead to 10-0.

On the mound Trankler pitched the five inning shutout, allowing only one hit.  He walked two and struck out six. Trankler improved his record to 3-1 with the win and was named Co-star of the game along with Hunter Schlosser.

Schlosser was 3-3 at the plate with a double and two rbi. Hahn had two hits and also had two rbi and a double.  McVay, who was celebrating his 17th birthday, and Jacob Priggel each had a hit and two runs batted in.

Trankler helped himself with a hit and a rbi.   Drew Reischman and Clay Sauceda also added a hit and a run driven in.  Heuring added his rbi on a sac fly.

The Eagles, now 5-2, will host Scott County Central (2-3) in a conference game today at 4 pm.
