Eagles Lose Heartbreaker

The Oran Eagles baseball team dropped a one-run decision to the visiting Dexter Bearcats this afternoon 2-1.

Hunter Schlosser held the visitors scoreless through 5 2/3 innings but it wasn't enough as Dexter was able to push across a run in the sixth and also in the seventh to eke out the victory.

Oran score first in the fourth inning.  Jacob Priggel worked a one-out walk, went to second on a wild pitch.  He then scored on a two-out rbi single by freshman Drew Reischman, the Bank of Advance Star of the Game.

Schlosser made the lead hold up until a one-out walk that advanced to second on a ground out in the sixth and scored on a two-out single.

In the seventh, Dexter loaded the bases on a bloop single, an infield single and a sacrifice bunt attempt on which no one was retired. The winning run scored on a sacrifice fly to center field for the first out of the inning.

Schlosser was able to work out of jam and allowed no further damage.

The Eagles, however, went down in order in the bottom of the seventh.

Schlosser took the complete game loss dropping his record to 2-2.  He gave up five hits, two runs, both earned.  He walked three and struck out two.  He received very little offensive support as Oran only managed three singles. Besides Reischman, Priggle had one as did Tanner McVay.

The Eagles are now 6-3 and will back in action tomorrow morning at 11am as they will face Dexter again at Jackson.  That game will be followed by a 4pm contest at Notre Dame against Shawnee, Il.
