Eagles Pound Blue Jays

The Oran High School baseball team improved it's record to 2-1 with a 13-1 five inning mercy rule victory over district foe Oak Ridge today.

Oak Ridge jumped on top in the second inning by combining two singles and two hit batsmen to force in their only run of the day.

The Eagles exploded in their half of the second inning.  Oran scored seven runs on six hits (all singles) and the benefited from two walks and one Blue Jay error. 13 batters came to the plate and from that point on the Eagles were never threatened.

Oran plated three more in the third and again in the fourth to cap the scoring.

Thomas Trankler went the distance to pick up his second win of the young season.  On the mound he only allowed two hits and hit the two batters. He allowed only the one run and for the second game in a row,  did not walk a batter.  He recorded a dozen strike outs. At the plate he added a single, a run scored and two runs batted in and was named the Bank of Advance Star of the Game.

Tanner McVay had two hits, including a double, and scored two runs. Jacob Priggel also had a pair of hits and two rbi.  Blake Overfield also had two hits, two runs scored and an rbi.  Clay Sauceda reached base all three times he came to the plate including a long rbi double to straight away center field.  Cole Priggel, who was Sauceda's courtesy runner scored three times.

Over all, the Eagles scored 13 runs on 10 hits and committed one error.

Oran will travel to take on conference foe Charleston tomorrow evening at 7 pm, weather permitting.
