Eagles Defeat Hawks

The Oran High School baseball team picked up its seventh straight victory this afternoon by defeating the Kelly Hawks 9-4 at Kelly.

Oran took an early lead by scoring three in the first inning.  Preston Hahn was hit by a pitch with one out. A single by Jacob Priggel  moved Hahn to second. One out later, Drew Reischman ripped a double down the right field line driving in both base runners.  Clay Sauceda then singled to right to bring home Reischman.

The Eagles added another in the third when Priggel reached on a one out error.  He stole second and scored on Reischman's two-out single.

Kelly got on the board in the bottom half of the third.  The Hawks got a lead-off single. Then with two outs Kelly came up with a single and a two-RBI double and Oran led 4-2 after 3.

Both teams added a run in the fourth.  Blake Overfield led of with a single for the Eagles.  Cole Priggel laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt with one out to advance Overfield to second.  Thomas Trankler singled to left to push Overfield across the plate.

Kelly used a lead-off triple and a one-out sacrifice fly to pick up their third run of the game.

The Eagles would add two in the fifth and sixth innings.

In the fifth, Hunter Schlosser reached first with one out after a wild pitch on a swinging third strike.  He moved to second on Reischman's third hit of the day. The bases were then loaded on Sauceda's second single.  With the infield drawn in, Overfield hit a ground ball to the left of the second baseman.  He dove, made the stop and then tried to get the runner at the plate but the throw was not in time and Schlosser scored.  Reischman then came across following a balk call on the pitcher

The sixth saw three consecutive singles by Trankler, Hahn and Priggel.  Trankler scored on Priggel's hit and Hahn came across on sac fly into shallow right caught by the second baseman hit by Sauceda.

Schlosser picked up the win to improve his record to 4-2.  He went six innings, he gave up three runs, all earned, on six hits.  He struck out 10 while walking four.  Reischman threw the seventh inning allowing two hits and one unearned run while striking out two.

The two were name Bank of Advance co-stars of the game for the second straight day.

Reischman went three for three at the plate with a double and two singles.  He was also hit by a pitch and reached base in all four plate appearances. He scored two runs and had three RBIs.

Sauceda was two for three with two runs driven in.  Jacob Priggel was two for four with two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base.  Trankler was two for five with a run, an RBI and a stolen base.

Priggel leads the team with a .529 batting average.  Trankler and Reischman are tied with the team lead in runs batted in with 24.  Priggel is right behind with 23.

The 13-3 Eagles will be back in action tomorrow as the host the Sikeston Bulldogs at 3:30 pm.
