The 7th grade jumped out to 36-5 half-time lead thanks in large part to Ty Johnson and Kaden Hargrove. Johnson scored 14 of his game-high 16 during the first half (including 2 three pointers) and Hargrove had 12 of his 15 during the first 12 minutes.
In the second half the Eagles outscored Zalma 16-10 for the 37 point victory.
Dane Shands scored 8 for Oran, who improved its record to 2-0. Gage Phillips and Drew Smith had 4 points apiece. Quentin Cureton chipped in 3 points, while Keaton Stepp added 2.
Once again the Eagles struggled from the free-throw line hitting only 1-4 for 25%.
In the late game, Oran led by 20 after one period, 22-2 and by 23 at the half, 35-12. If there was any doubt about the final outcome, it was quickly erased as the Eagles out-scored the Bulldogs 16-0 in the third quarter.
Three Oran players reached double-digits in the scoring column, led by Todd Priggels' 20. He had one from beyond the arc. Tyson Goodale and Landon Stanberry each had 14.
Jakob Findley had 3, while Gabe Fox and Kaden Massey both tallied 2.
The eighth grade fared only slightly better than their younger counterparts at the charity stripe. They were 2-7 for 29% .
They also improved their record to 2-0.
Afterwords, Coach Joe Shoemaker said, "Both teams came out and dictated tempo from the beginning of the game and played with intensity. We are looking forward to getting to practice to work on some things and continue improving."
Both teams will get to play on their home floor for the first time this young season on Thursday when they host conference foe Scott City at 6 pm.
The blog would like to think Michael Stevens and Niki Cummins for the photos.
