Foul trouble haunted the Eagles early as both Mallory Lowes and Alyssa Spane picked up three in the first quarter and were forced to sit until half-time. Lowes made it until the fourth quarter before picking up another foul, Spane ended the game with three.
Oran still managed a 4-4 tie after one and only trailed by two (9-7) at the intermission.
The Eagles were able to take the lead in the third period but had to settle for a 16-16 tie at the buzzer.
The fourth quarter belonged to East Prairie as they outscored Oran 11-2 for the nine point win.
Another haunting aspect of the Eagles performance was at the free throw line. Oran was just 6 for 23 for 26% on the night, including 2 for 12 during that fateful final frame.
After the game, Head Coach Ethan Evans said, "We got in early foul trouble and couldn't recover. I was proud of the girls for hanging tough. We played a big chunk of the game with 4 6th graders on the floor. Free throws were our downfall once again. I look forward to working with this group of girls next year."
Lowes finished with 8 points after being held scoreless in the first half to lead the Eagles. Hannah Boshell and Hope Woodfin each added 4 points, while Kara Phillips chipped in 2.
The seventh grade team finished its season with a 3-2 conference mark and 4-4 overall.
