JHGB: 8th grade sees season end

The Oran Junior High School girls' 8th grade team had their season come to a screeching halt tonight as they fell to Chaffee in the opening round of the Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament at Delta 25-12.

The Eagles fell behind 5-4 after the first quarter but flew into half-time with 10-7 lead.

Oran, with a short bench, ran out of steam in the second half and was only able to score 2 more points the rest of the way.  They trailed 19-12 after three before getting shut out 6-0 in the fourth.

Heather Gosche had 6 points to lead the Eagles.  Bailey Shipley added 4 while Taylor Lowes chipped in 2.

After the game Coach Ethan Evans said, "The girls had their best defensive effort of the year but ran out of gas in the 2nd half. We only had 6 players available and fatigue set in, especially on the offensive end. The girls had a successful season and I look forward to seeing them on the court in high school next year."

Oran finished its season at 7-4 overall and 5-2 in league play.
