In the early game, points were at a premium especially for the visiting Rams.
The Eagles led 6-0 after one and 8-2 at the half. It was 13-3 heading into the final quarter.
Coach Ethan Evans said, "We got off to a quick start then held on in a defensive battle. We settled for jump shots when we could've taken the ball to the hole. The defensive effort was good and the girls played hard."
Mallory Lowes scored 9 to lead Oran. Hope Woodfin had 4 and Rylee Boshell added 2.
The Eagles were only 1-6 from the line for a paltry 17%.
The seventh grade finished the conference race with a 3-2 record and 4-3 overall. They received the #2 seed in next week's Scott-Miss conference tournament and will have a first round bye. They will play the winner of East Prairie and Kelly on Wednesday at 5:15 pm at Chaffee.
In game two, Oran jumped out 6-1 after the first and was never threatened after that, outscoring Scott City in every quarter. It was 18-4 at the half, 27-10 after three before the 23 point margin of victory.
The Eagles were led in scoring by Taylor Lowes with 17, she had one field goal from beyond the arc. She was followed by Heather Gosche, who scored 16. Bailey Shipley had 2, Kara Phillips and Mallory Lowes each added a point.
The older team also fared poorly at the charity stripe hitting only 2-9 for 22%.
According to Coach Evans, "I was proud of the defensive effort the girls put up. They also rebounded extremely well. We need to focus on taking the ball to the hole and use our athleticism."
The eighth grade finished 5-2 and 7-3. They garnered the #5 seed and will play Chaffee at 7:15 on Tuesday.
