HSGB - Eagles perform well in Portageville Jamboree

The Oran High School girl's basketball team finally got to practice against somebody other than each other.

Tonight they traveled an hour south to take part in a jamboree hosted by Portageville.  Also involved were Charleston and New Madrid County Central.  Oran, was by far, the smallest school involved.
Each team played three games consisting on two 6-minute periods.

In game one, Oran took on New Madrid.  Our Eagles defeated the other Eagles by a final score of 22-13.

In the second game, Oran took on conference foe Charleston.  The Eagles came away with a 26-11 win.

In the final contest of the evening, Oran took on the host Portageville Bulldogs.  For the first time, the Eagles trailed in a game as the Portageville scored the first 4 points but the Eagles came back to control the game and picked up their third victory by a final of 26-12.

Head Coach Ethan Evans said, "I thought overall we played very good defensively.  We got after the ball in the full court set and kept pressure on the ball handler for the most part.  I thought our youth showed in a couple of spots and we had some nerves early on."
