HSGB: Season Preview

The Oran High School girls basketball teams will open it's regular season on Monday, November 23 when they host the Malden Green Wave at 6 pm.  The varsity will be looking to capture it's third straight Class 1 District 2 title and advance on further into state play.

One week before the Green Wave comes rolling into Oran, the Eagles will participate in a four team jamboree. Tomorrow,  Monday, November 16 Oran will travel to Portageville.  They will play the host team at 5 pm. After that they will face New Madrid and Charleston.

*Note:  Game time for the Tuesday, November 24th game at Scott County Central is yet to be finalized because the Junior High boys will also be playing.  

Head Coach Ethan Evans had this to say about this year's squad, "I am extremely pleased with the intensity the girls have shown in practice this first week and a half.  I am looking forward to getting the team on the court against some other competition. One of our strengths this year is going to be our depth. We can go pretty deep with this team and not see much of a drop off in ability. We have some decent size this year and our guards are fairly quick."

Last season, the Eagles finished 3-3 in the Scott-Miss conference and 14-11 overall.  After winning their second straight district championship they fell to Naylor in the sectional game 59-31.
