JHBB: Eagles conclude regular season with sweep

Both junior high boys basketball teams will head into the conference tournament with winning
streaks after defeating Scott County Central last night.  The seventh grade won, 45-27 and the eighth grade routed the Braves 58-12.

In game one, the Eagles jumped out to a 16-4 lead after one quarter and led 29-19 at the half.

Oran was up 38-25 heading into the final six minutes enroute to the 18 point win.

Ty Johnson scored 21 and Kaden Hargrove added 15 with 9 points from beyond the arc.

Drew Smith added 3, while Kaleb Gosche, Waylon Schaefer and Dane Shands all scored 2.

The Eagles were 8 of 20 from the line for 40%.

They improved to 5-1 in Scott-Mississippi action and 11-3 overall and conclude the regular season with a two-game winning streak.

In the night-cap, Oran led 25-2 after the first period and it never got closer.

The score was 45-4 at half-time and the lead expanded to 54-6 after 3 and following the mercy-rule clock, the Eagles claimed a 46 point victory.

Every Eagle made the scoring column.  Todd Priggel and Landon Stanberry led the way with 14 apiece.

Jakob Findley scored 7.  Tyson Goodale, Kaden Massey, Carson Moyers and Kole Simms added 4.  Gabe Fox chipped in 3 while Jake Phillips and Tristin Schlosser both tallied 2.

From the line, they were 6-9 for 67%.

The eighth grade finished their conference season undefeated at 6-0 and 13-1 in all games.  They won their last four in a row.

Afterwards, Coach Shoemaker said, "Both teams finished off the regular season with wins.  I thought both teams did a good job of jumping off to early leads and continued with the pressure the whole game.  Now we have to prepare to play in the conference tournament after a week of no games.  It will be a challenge to stay sharp but hopefully we are ready to accept that challenge."

The junior high boys basketball conference tournament will be held in Delta the week of December 7th.  A bracket will posted when available.
