Let's look at it by sport.
The junior high boys will conclude their regular season this week.
On Monday, they travel to conference foe Chaffee. They will play the Red Devils starting at 6 pm. In last year's 7th grade game, Oran squeaked out a narrow 27-25 victory.
Tuesday will be another Scott-Miss game and the finale for the Eagles as they travel to Scott County Central. The 7th grade is scheduled to tip-off at 4:30. More on this later. Oran won the 7th grade game last year, 33-26.
The conference tournament for the boys will be the week of December 7th at Delta.
As the boys are finishing up, high school girls hoops will begin.
They open their season at home on Monday as they host Malden at 6 pm. The Green Wave is a new addition to the Eagle schedule. They are a class 3 school that plays in the Bootheel Conference and were 10-13 last season, losing in their district tournament opener to New Madrid County Central.
Now, on Tuesday, the ladies will be a part of a quadruple-header at Scott County Central. After the junior high boys finish, the high school girls will take over the court. Game time is tentatively scheduled for 7 pm.
Last year, the Bravettes were 6-18 overall and 2-4 in conference. They lost in the championship game of their four-team district tournament to Chaffee.
Also, in case you missed the update on Facebook; the junior varsity girls will be playing four
quarters to start the season but that may change at some point.
The issue they are dealing with is that, not only are there limitations on how may quarters a player can play per evening (6), there is a also a cap on how many they can play during the season and still eligible for post-season. That is was the coaching staff will have to keep an eye on to make sure everyone is good to go as the Eagles look for their third straight district championship and hope to march on past the sectional round.

For those that just can't wait, this coming weekend is a great opportunity to jump into high school basketball at the 21st Annual Riverbend Classic held at New Madrid County Central. Although Oran does not participate, it is a chance to see some good out of area teams as well as some in our area that we don't normally get to watch.
Conference member Scott County Central is involved.
