The Eagles jumped out to a 23-8 first quarter lead and were never threatened. A 38-17 lead going into half-time and Oran was cruising but Head Coach Joe Shoemaker was not completely happy. After the game he said, "I thought we started the game with energy but halfway through the first quarter we let our energy level drop. We "discussed" this at halftime and I was pleased with our third quarter energy level and performance."
In that third quarter, the Eagles slammed the door on any thoughts of a Delta comeback by outscoring the Bobcats 28-5 to take an insurmountable 66-22 advantage into the final eight minutes. A 9-5 advantage put the cap on the most lopsided victory of the season and broke a two-game string of one-point losses.
Max Priggel led all scorers with 22. He hit a trey and was 5-5 from the line. Cole Priggel had 10.
Layne Johnson hit for 9, including a three-pointer. Jacob Shoemaker added 8 with two from beyond the arc. Blake Schlitt tossed in 7 and had one from distance. Preston Hahn and Garrison Mangels both scored 6. Wyatt Kinney contributed 5 and Drew Reischman had 2.
Luke Barnes played but did not score.
Oran was 15 of 18 from the charity stripe for a very good 83%.
Delta did not field a junior varsity team.
Next up will be the seMissourian Christmas Tournament that begins next Saturday. Oran is the number 9 seed and will take on the 8 seed Woodland Cardinals in the night cap that is scheduled to begin at 9 pm in the newly remodeled Show-Me Center.
The junior varsity will not play again until a January 5th contest at Bernie.
