Lady Eagles rout South Pemiscot

It didn't take long to realize the only drama or intrigue there would be last night during the Oran High School girls basketball game against the visiting South Pemiscot Bulldogs would be whether or not the Eagles would reach the century mark.  They came close.  The final was 93-14 after a running clock was used the entire second half.

Leah Cauble had a career night, as she scored 44 and only played three quarters.  She poured in 27 during the first period alone, as Oran raced out to a 39-1 lead after eight minutes.

At half-time, it was 62-1.

The second half was more of the same, 82-6 after the third. The junior varsity played the entire fourth and out scored the Bulldogs 11-8.

Cauble's 44 included three 3-pointers.  Ashlyn McIntosh hit for 20 and had 8 steals.  Shiloh Kirn had 7 with a long-range bomb.  Brianna Stause had 6 points on two from beyond the arc.  She led the team with 7 assists.  Jessie Long also scored 6.

MacKenzie Graviett and Madison Ramsey each added 3 points, Ramsey's came on a trey.   Claire Ramsey and Katelyn Streeter both scored 2.

Coach Ethan Evans said, "Both teams played great defense and had lots of good looks. I was extremely proud of the way they played going into the break. Not much else to say."

The Eagles shot well last night, they hit 72% from inside the arc on 34 for 47 shooting.  Beyond the arc they were 7 of 16 for 44%. They were 4 of 7 from the line for 57%.

Oran improved to 7-0 and will be off until January 4th when they participate in the Delta New Year Tournament.

Junior Varsity:

The opener was a precursor the night cap as the Eagles won by forty, 60-20.

The JV led 10-2 after one and 20-6 at the half.

The fourth quarter opened with a 43-18 Oran lead and about a minute and a half into that final frame
the lead was expanded to thirty and the mercy-rule clock was enacted.

Katelyn Streeter led the way with 22, MacKenzie Graviett added 17, while Madison Ramsey poured in 11, with three treys.

Madison Graviett scored 6 and Megan Henson had 4.

They were 3 of 7 at the charity stripe for 43%.

The junior Eagles improved  to 3-1.  They will not play again until the Scott-Mississippi /Conference Tournament the week of January 11th.
