JV places 2nd in Advance Tourney

The Oran High School boys junior varsity basketball team was seeded second coming into the 2015 Advance JV Tournament and that's where they finished after falling 41-29 last night to the number four seed Bloomfield Wildcats.

Oran took a four point lead into the second period at 12-8, but the Wildcats out scored the Eagles 12-3 to take a 20-15 advantage into the intermission.

Oran cut the lead by two during the third and ended the frame down 26-23.  The Eagles, forced to foul in the final quarter, saw Bloomfield hit 13 of 17 free throws to expand the lead to 12.

After the game, Coach Shoemaker said, "I was proud of our effort but we just missed too many easy shots and had some silly turnovers. We held Bloomfield to 2 field goals in the second half but had to foul late and they shot a high percentage from the line."

Ben Fox scored 8 for the Oran jv, who's record is now 2-3.  Drew Reischman added 7, Bradley Brooks 6.  Joey Phillips chipped in 5, including one trey.  Denver Elfrink had 3.

William Kluesner, Peyton McVay, Avery Mitchem, Jon Shipley and Kalen Read all played but did not score.

The Eagles were 6 of 7 from the line for 86%.

The junior varsity will be off until January.

It will be a varsity only contest tonight as Oran travels to Delta for a 6 pm conference match up.
