What's happenin' (1/18-1/23)
Another week is approaching and it will be another week with another tournament.
This week the boys will be featured as they will be participating in the 2016 boys Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament held in Scott City.
There is no school on Monday but the junior varsity boys (3-8) will start their tourney action at 6 pm. The Eagles are the number 4 seed and will face the 5th seeded Oak Ridge Blue Jays. These two teams met during the Advance JV tournament on December 12th. Oran picked up a 53-45 victory.
Also on Monday the girls (12-1) will try to avenge their only loss of the season when they host the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders. The junior varsity (3-2) will tip-off at 6 pm. Saxony enters the week at 14-2. The Crusaders won the match up during the championship game of the Delta New Year Tournament January 7, 52-30.
On Tuesday, the varsity boys will play at Scott City. Game time is 7:45. The Eagles (9-7) are the fourth seed also and will face Chaffee, who picked up the five seed. Oran defeated the Red Devils during the seMissourian Christmas Tournament on December 30th by a final of 38-32. Chaffee has a record of 3-12.
The action will resume on Thursday.
The only game that at this time is definite will be the girls as they host conference and district rival Delta. The Bobcats are currently 3-9 and lost to the Eagles on January 4th, during the opening round of the New Year tourney by a score of 66-25.
The boys tournament will continue on Thursday and the Eagles will play if they win their first games. Game time for the jv would be 4 pm and the opponent East Prairie. For the varsity they would play the winner of Scott County Central or Delta (ok, they would play Scott County) at 6:30.
Championship night is Friday. Game time for the jv 3rd place is 4 o'clock, the first place game is 5:15. The varsity 3rd place is scheduled for 6:30 and the 1st place at 7:45.
Don't quit reading yet because we actually have a Saturday game.
The girls varsity team will travel to Poplar Bluff to take on the Twin Rivers Royals at Three Rivers College at 2 pm. The Royals are currently 9-5 but lay claim to an early season victory over Saxony Lutheran. This is the second consecutive year these two teams have met before a Lady Raiders game at 3R. Last year, Twin Rivers won 40-26.
