The jayvee girls start the week with an unblemished conference record of 6-0 and 10-3 overall. The varsity squad is also perfect in the Scott-Mississippi Conference at 6-0. They are 19-3 in all games. Both teams will look to finish the week as conference regular season champs. The girls are the number 1 seed next week at Richland for the Class 1, District 2 tournament
On the boys side, the junior varsity is 3-3 and 6-10, the varsity stands at 4-3 and 13-12. The boys picked up the 2 seed for the district tournament that will begin on Saturday.
The girls will celebrate Senior Night on Monday when they host St. Vincent of Perryville at 6 pm. The Indians come in with a 12-10 record. Last year, the regular season game was canceled because of weather, but the Eagles picked up a 49-25 win during the Delta New Year tournament. St. Vincent is the #3 seed in the upcoming Class 2, District 3 tournament to be held at Bismark High School.
On Tuesday, the girls will travel to Greenville for a make up game against the Bears. This will be varsity only with tip time at 6 pm. Last year, Oran lost 40-31. Greenville is currently 13-10 pending a Monday eveing contest with Woodland. The Bears are the #3 seed in the upcoming Class 2, District 2 tournament to be held at Van Buren High School.
Also on Tuesday, the boys will close out the regular season at arch-rival Advance. The Hornets will come in with a lofty 21-5 mark. They received the top seed for the Class 1, District 2 tourney. Game time is scheduled for 6 pm. Last year these two team met twice with each picking up a win. The Eagles won the first during the third place game of the O.I.T. 62-46. Advance won theirs in the district championship game by a final of 66-49. The Hornet advanced all the way to the State Championships claiming 3rd place. The regular season game was canceled due to weather.
The girls will finish their regular season with conference foe Scott City on Thursday. Oran travel to take on the Rams at 6 pm. Scott City enters the week at 1-17 and they are scheduled to play St. Vincent on Wednesday. The Eagles and the Rams have met up twice this year, once during the Red Devil Invitational and the other during the S-MC tournament. Oran cruised to easy victories in both, 83-14 and 83-20, respectively. Scott City is seeded 8th in the Class 3, District 2 tournament that they will be hosting.
After a rare Friday night off, the boys will kick off the post-season on Saturday, when the travel to Essex to take on the Delta Bobcats. Delta, the 7th seed, comes in with a 1-19 record, their only win coming against non-MSHSAA school Eagle Ridge Christian. The Eagles have two wins against the Bobcats, 75-27 in the regular season and 67-3 during the Christmas Tournament.
