What's happenin' (2/8 - 2/12)
There are only two weeks left in the regular seasons of the Oran High School boys and girls basketball teams and next week will have a couple of special games at home.
The varsity girls start the week 17-3 overall and 5-0 in conference. The junior varsity is 8-3 and 5-0. The boys varsity team is 13-10 and 4-2, the jv stands at 6-9 and 3-2.
On Monday, the girls will host Woodland. The Cardinals come in with 14-8 record. The two teams have not met this year. Last season the Eagles won 40-29.
Tuesday evening is "Lil Cheer" night and Oran will host the Bloomfield Wildcats. The 'Cats come in with a stellar 19-3 record and defeated the Eagles last season 60-47.
There are no games on Wednesday, but seedings for the upcoming district tournament are scheduled to take place. We should have brackets posted sometime that day for the event to be held at Richland High School in Essex.
The only road game of the week is on Thursday. The girls will travel to conference foe East Prairie. The Mississippi County Eagles are 3-11 overall and 1-4 in Scott-Miss play.
Friday night is senior night for the boys. They will host Scott County Central. The Braves 15-8 and 5-0 in league play. The Eagles have lost twice this season to SCC. During the OIT, the Braves pulled away late to claim a 59-48 win and then defeated Oran during the conference tourney 73-56.
All games start at 6 pm.
