Jr. High Eagles win on the road
The Oran Junior High School girls basketball team picked up a victory last night as Scott County Central. The combined 7th and 8th grade team, Scott County did not have a 7th grade team, won 40-12.
The Eagles led 14-8 after the first quarter. They then outscored their hosts 26-4 the rest of the way including a 9-0 margin in the third to blow the game open.
Mallory Lowes led all scorers with 11, including 3-4 from the line. Hope Woodfin also reached double digits with 10. She hit both of her free throw attempts. Hannah Boshell, Rylee Boshell and Emma Priggel each added 4. Chloe Prindle totaled 3 points. Grace Davis and Alyssa Spane both chipped in a field goal. Skyler Ham and Laney Shy saw playing time but did not score.
They hit 6 of 12 from the line for 50%.
Coach Ethan Evans said, "After the first quarter we really picked it up defensively. We got lots of playing time for all 10 girls and spread it around offensively."
The eighth grade's record now stands at 5-3 overall and 3-2 in Scott-Miss play.
The girls will be back in action on Monday when the host conference foe Kelly at 6 pm.
