The Oran High School volleyball team broke a five match losing streak last night with it's straight sets win over visiting Richland by the score of 25-14 and 25-13.
In set 1, the score was tied 5-5 before a quick Eagle spurt made the score 9-5 and the Rebels called a time out. It was 17-8 when Richland used to final time out. Oran outscored the visitors 8-6 the rest of way.
During the final game, the Eagles maintained the lead through out. They were ahead 8-3, 11-6 and and 12-7 before taking command for the 12 point match-clinching victory.
Brianna Stause and 5 aces and 5 kills. Olivia Schlosser dished out 9 assists as well as serving 2 aces.
Jessie Long had 4 kills and an ace. Kenzie Graviett and Kaylee Payne each added 2 aces and 2 kills. Megan Tenkhoff had an ace serve. Cassie Cochran contributed 2 assists and 2 aces off the bench.
Coach Larry Boshell commented, "We played really well in every phase of the game. We really needed a win and the girls battled from the beginning of the first set all the way to the last point."
There was no jayvee game.
The varsity is now 5-11-1 and will be back in action this evening at 6 o'clock when they travel to Meadow Heights to take on the Panthers.
