The Oran High School varsity volleyball team improved its record to 9-9-1 last night with a 25-20, 26-24 victory on the road.
Coach Amy Wibbenmeyer said, "We played really hard and up the first game and we beat them. We switched sides and didn’t come out as strong the second game. We put in some subs and we just couldn’t put it all back together. We put back in the starters and I stressed to the girls how important it is to talk in the game, we struggle with this so much. If you don’t talk to your teammates around you it is hard to figure out where they are and to help to work together. We finally pulled off the last game even though it was a nail-biter in the end."
Cassie Cochran had 14 assists, two aces and a kill. Kaylee Payne six kills, three digs and an ace. Jessie Long also totaled six kills to go along with two digs. Kenzie Graviett had three kills, two digs and an ace. Kaitlyn Streeter had two kills and a dig. Kamryn Graviett had a pair of aces and a pair of assists. Malia LeGrand added an ace.
It was the second straight-set win in a row for the Eagles.
Oran will host Meadow Heights this evening. The junior varsity will start at 6 pm.
