The Oran High School baseball team won one and lost one on Saturday. The Eagles defeated class 4 Dexter 10-0 in five innings but lost to perennial class 2 power Valle Catholic 3-2.

In the opener, Oran used a dominant pitching performance by senior, lefty Layne Johnson and an explosive offense to pick up the mercy-rule win.
Johnson (1-1) allowed only three hits, He struck out eight and walked only one.
Freshman Ty Johnson had a pair of doubles and an rbi in three at-bats. Drew Reischman and Clay Sauceda each had two runs driven in. Layne Johnson, Todd Priggel and Denver Elfrink all scored two runs apiece. Cole Priggel and Reischman each added a double.
With the victory, The Eagles improved to 2-2,
Valle Catholic 3, Oran 2
As the game headed into the sixth inning, it looked as if the Eagles might end a ten-year drought against the Warriors. Oran had not defeated Valle since May of 2008 during the quarterfinal round of the state playoffs. Most of the losses since had been mercy-rule affairs.
Yesterday, Drew Reischman got the start. He worked around a pair of first-inning singles.
In the bottom half, the Eagles used a Layne Johnson hit by pitch, and then consecutive singles by Todd Priggel, Reischman and Clay Sauceda to score a pair of runs.
Oran maintained the margin until there were two outs in the sixth when a batter was hit by a pitch. That was followed by a home run by their designated hitter.
In the seventh, Valle used a one-out double followed by a single, but the baserunner was thrown out at home. The following batter, however, singled to drive home what proved to be the winning tally. He was thrown out trying to advance to second.
The Eagles managed a Denver Elfrink one-out single and a two-out Todd Priggel walk but could not push the tying run across.
Reischman (0-2)went the distance he allowed nine hits, three runs, all earned. He walkd one and struck out six.
Elfrink with two for two. All six Oran hits were singles.
The Eagles are now 2-3 and will be back in action on Wednesday at 4:30 when they travel to Oak Ridge.
