JHVB catch-up
We got behind in our coverage of junior high volleyball. Coach Wibbenmeyer was nice enough to send us the following information: (We will add last night's Oak Ridge contest info when we get it).
Jackson
7th grade: 24-26, 25-19, 15-12. We won this game and it was exciting to watch the girls win their first game!
8th grade: 13-25 and 16-25. We went in the game already defeated because we were not talking to each other.
Meadow Heights
7th grade: 26-24, 14-25, and 8-15. We pushed the first game and worked hard together and then we gave up too many points in the second and third game over missed serves and not talking to each other.
8th grade: 13-25 and 11-25. We came out again not talking and kept making errors. Our heads were not mentally in the game and then in the 2nd set Hannah came down on her ankle and we lost her. We will continue to work on talking. We know how to do it and when we do we win when we don’t we lose and don’t play together as a team.
Zalma:
7th grade won 27-7 and 27-25. Maddie had 5 aces, Braylyn had four, and Molly and Hallie each added one. Addie had one kill! We were finally putting everything together and we had a few bump, sets, spikes.
8th grade also won 25-9 and 25-22. Rylee had one ace, Liza had four. We were also bump setting and spiking in the 8th grade game but we weren’t talking as much as we could so we did have some errors. Rylee, Liza, Grace, and Carly all added a kill, and Hope had three.
I feel like we are learning and we have gotten better in each game, but there are still things we can work on and we will continue to get better even only with 2 games left!
Oak Ridge:
7th grade: lost 5-25 and 11-25-- we didn’t talk and let them get too many aces on us so we got down a lot and just couldn’t come back because we weren’t talking.
8th grade: 17-25 and 5-25-- we didn’t start off strong and let them get ahead 1-5. We were making silly mistakes but then we made a come back at 11-13. After one time out they kept getting points and they kept the momentum. In the second set we just completely stopped talking.
The final match of the season is Friday, April 6th, when Bell City comes to town. The games start at 6 pm.
