Eagles lose to Redbirds

The Oran High School baseball team lost a 4-1 decision to the East Carter Redbirds yesterday in a game played at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff.

The Eagles were the visitors on the scoreboard and took the lead in the top of the first after a first-pitch triple by Jacob Shoemaker.  Shoemaker scored on a Todd Priggel sacrifice fly.  Unfortunately, he was the only Eagle to cross the plate.

Oran only managed five hits, Shoemaker's triple was the only extra-base hit.  They did, however, strand 14 baserunners and committed four errors.

Priggel (1-1) went the first three and two-thirds and took the loss.  He gave up 3 runs, 2 earned, on 4 hits.  He walked 4 and struck out 3. Ty Johnson went the final 2 innings and a third.  He allowed on 1 run, it was earned on 2 hits and 3 walks.  He struck out 1.

The Eagles fell to 2-5 and will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Bell City.  They will take on the Cubs at 4:30 pm.
