The Oran High School baseball team picked up a split on Saturday by defeating the Dexter Bearcats 11-3.

Dexter got one back in the third on a one-out double and an error.
Oran plated two more in the seventh. Shands led off with a single, Priggel walked with one down. they both scored on Johnson's hit to right.
Dexter added one more in their half.
Johnson (1-0) got the win for the Eagles 2-1. He went four innings. He gave up two runs, one earned, on four hits. He walked one and struck out nine. Priggel went the final three. He allowed one unearned run on one hit. He walked one and struck out five.
Johnson had three hits on the day and added three RBI. Simms and Priggel had two hits apiece. Priggel and Shoemaker each drove in two.
Coach Joe Bickings said, "It was really nice to see our kids put the Valle game behind them and come out scoring 9 runs in the first two innings. Dexter did what we did against Valle and walked too many people and we took advantage of it. When they couldn’t throw strikes we were able to sit on some pitches and put good swings on them. I also thought Ty [Johnson] threw the ball really well. I was hoping to give him 5 innings but we also had him on a pitch count and with 9 K’s in 4 innings you are going to have a higher pitch count but I’ll take a 9to1 strikeout to walk ratio. Todd came in and pitched the final 3 innings with a 5 to 1 strikeout to walk ratio and threw effectively for us to get the win."
The Eagles travel to Leopold Tuesday for a district contest. Game time is 4:15.
