The Eagles, who were no-hit in the game, scored their run the first. Todd Priggel walked with one out, Ty Johnson was hit by a pitch and Kaden Hargrove drew a base on balls to load the bases. Priggel scored on a wild pitch.
Kaden Hargrove, who got his first start on the mound of the year, gave up five runs in the first, only three of which were earned.
The Warriors tacked on one in the third to make the score 6-1, before exploding for 10 in the fourth to end the game.
Coach Joe Bickings said, "The game against Valle we knew it was going to be a good test for us. We came out and scored in the first inning but couldn’t get the bats going after that. I thought after the 1st inning Kaden threw the ball fairly well. We had him on a pitch count and it hurt when he threw 30-plus pitches in the 1st inning. The next inning he came out pumping strikes and had quicker inning getting them down 1-2-3. The next two guys we threw out there haven’t pitched that much in real game situations and it showed. We walked way too many and didn’t challenge the hitters enough. We also committed errors the inning we gave up 10 runs. You can’t win too many ball games walking 10 batters and committing errors and you aren’t going to win against a team like Valle. We have to clean a few things up but it is a long season and we know what we need to work on."
Hargrove went two and one-third innings. He allowed six runs, but only three earned. He gave up three hits, he walked two and struck out three and took the loss. Seth Cauble went an inning a third. He gave up six runs, with three being earned, on one hit. He walked five. Lane Peterson faced the final seven batters and did not record an out. He was charged with four runs, none earned. He gave up two hits and walked four.
