The Oran High School boys basketball fell just short in their title bid on Saturday afternoon in JQH Arena on the campus of Missouri State University dropping a 55-54 decision to the Greenwood High School Blue Jays. Greenwood is a private school located on the grounds at Missouri State. (My more mature readers may remember U-High that was at SEMO.)
The game was tied 16 all after one and the Eagles led 29-23 at the break. Oran's lead had dwindled to 43-41 heading into the fourth. The Blue Jays outscored Oran 14-11 over the final eight minutes. The Eagles had chances late but it was not to be.
Tyson Goodale led his team with 17 points and nine rebounds. His point total included a "three." Ty Johnson had 14 with two treys. Jacob Shoemaker had 12 and all came from beyond the arc. He also had a team-high six assists.
Todd Priggel had seven points, seven boards and dished out five assists. Langdon Scheeter and Cooper Priggel had two points apiece.
As a team, they were 7-17 from beyond the arc for 41%. At the line, they hit 3 of 7 for 43%.
The Eagles finished the year with a 30-2 mark.
