The Oran High School boys basketball team opened final four play on Friday against the defending Class 2 state champs, the Van-Far Indians. The Eagles trailed after one, 13-12 but outscored their opponents 46-27 the rest of the way to claim a 58-40 victory that propelled them into the Class 2 championship game.
Jacob Shoemaker led all scorers with 24. He was 4-4 from the line and 4-5 from beyond the arc including one that came at 6:14 of the second that gave Oran an 18-15 lead, a lead they would not relinquish.
Tyson Goodale finished with 10 points.
Todd Priggel had eight and a team-high four rebounds. Landon Scheeter played all 32 minutes and had seven points including a trey. Ty Johnson scored five and he, too, hit one from beyond the arc. Cooper Prigel and Samuel Shoemaker rounded out the scoring with a field goal each.
As a team, they hit 6 of 9 from beyond the arc for 67% and at the line, they were 12-17 for 71%.
They improved to 30-1 and advanced to the championship game against Greenwood High School, which was located on the campus of Missouri State University.
