Basketball splits on the road

The Oran Junior High School girls basketball teams traveled to Oak Ridge last night.  The seventh-grade lost 49-9 and the eighth-grade remained undefeated with a 48-11 victory.

In the opener, Olivia Grisso scored seven and Mari Fuemmeler added a field goal.  The girls were 1-3 at the line.  They are now 2-4 and 4-5.

Coach Ethan Evans said, “We weren't focused for this game from the get-go. We couldn't handle their pressure and we gave up way too many second-chance points.“

Addie Nichols had 33 in the nightcap, including three three’s.

Molly Spane had seven points.  Braylynn Morgan scored six and Scarlett Schlosser added a field goal.

They were 5 of 12 from the free-throw line for 42%,

Evans said, “The girls did a good job of getting up and pressuring them which led to some easy buckets. We played well on both sides of the ball.”

They improved to 7-0 and 10-0.

The girls will be idle until next Tuesday when they host  Cape Central at 6 pm.
