Eighth-grade girls close regular season with loss

The Oran eighth-grade girls basketball team was soundly defeated last night by visiting Delta 53-26, in what may have been a preview of the conference tournament championship game.  Oran is seeded first and Delta second.

Molly Spane and Braylynn Morgan each scored eight to lead the lady Eagles.  Addie Nichols had six and Sophie Bryeans four.

The girls were 4 of 12 from the line for 33 percent.

An obviously disappointed coach Ethan Evans said, "[We had] way too many turnovers and we couldn’t keep them from getting to the basket."

The team condluces the regular season 7-1 in the league and 11-2 overall and two-game losing skid.

The eighth-graders will be back in action on Saturday when the face either Chaffee or Charleston at 11:30 to tip off the Scott-Mississippi Conference tournament at Scott City.
