Eighth-grade girls finish second

The top-seed Oran eighth-grade girls were upset last night in the Scott Mississippi basketball tournament championship game by second-seeded Delta, 32-27 at Scott City.  The lady Eagles were down 14-13 at the break and were outscored 12-4 in the third before cutting the final margin back down to five.

Braylynn Morgan led all scorers with 15, including a trey.

Addie Nichols had seven points and one from beyond the arc.  Scarlett Schlosser's three points came on a three-pointer.  Molly Spane added a field goal.

The girls were 2-5 from the line.

Coach Ethan Evans said, "We played them much better this time around but had some costly turnovers late. Not the finish we wanted but a good season nonetheless."

They finished the year with a 13-3 record.  Over the course of two years, they were 26-4 and had first and second-place conference tournament finishes.
