The Oran Junior High boys basketball teams traveled to Marble Hill last night and lost twice to the Cardinals. The seventh-grade made their debut and fell 30-14. The eighth-grade followed suit, losing 32-17. The younger team was held scoreless in the first and third quarters and the older squad was blanked in the second.
Brison Winchester led the Eagles with six points. Roman Schlosser hit a trey for his points. Camden Hahn and Ayden Shy each had a field goal, while Giddeon Davis made a free throw.
They were 1 of 2 from the charity stripe. They are now 0-1.
In the nightcap, Andrew Dennis had four points, Brenden Campbell and Nate Pobst both had three. Drake Dannennmueller, Elijah Shoemaker and Jon Tucker all added a field goal apiece. Coltin Karr rounded out the scoring with a free throw.
They were 5 of 15 from the line and fell to 1-1 on the year.
Coach Joe Bickings said, "It was a tough night scoring for us in both grades. I thought we had some good looks in both games but the ball just didn't go through the hoop. Our communication on defense wasn't there and we settled for jump shots instead of getting to the rim. We have to learn from these mistakes and move on."
The boys return to action next Tuesday when they host Scott City at 6 pm.
