The Oran eighth-grade girls basketball team opened play in the Scott-Mississippi tournament yesterday in Scott City. The top-seeded Lady Eagles faced the eighth-seeded Chaffee Lady Devils who had won a play-in game on Friday against ninth-seeded Charleston. Oran broke a two-game losing streak with 72-8 shellacking.
Addie Nichols poured in 42 in three quarters of action. She hit three from beyond the arc. Scarlett Schlosser finished with 11 and had a trey.
Braylynn Mogan had nine, Molly Spane had six and Mari Fuemmeler and Lily Knotts both had two.
The girls were 8 of 10 from the line and improved to 12-2 on the year.
Coach Ethan Evans said, "We jumped on them early and finally played a good solid 4 quarters."
They will face the Scott City on Monday at 3:30.
