Eagle blast Bell City

On Friday evening, the Oran High School boys basketball teams traveled to Bell City and crashed the Cubs' homecoming.  The junior varsity won 77-23, the varsity rolled 84-50.

After one, in the opener, Oran led 13-5.  They put the game out of reach in the second and took a 41-9 half time lead and went on to the 54 point rout.

Seth Cauble led all scorers with 15.  Camdyn Tribblet had 10 points.

Diesel Cato, Robby Menz and Riley Schlosser each had eight.  Schlosser hit two from beyond the arc.  Conner Kern, Nick Romas and Owen Spane had five apiece and they each hit a trey.  Nathaniel Jones hit a trey for his points.  Landon Cochran, Chris Collins, Nic Massey, Kolten Payne and Luke Peterson each contributed a field goal.

Coach Joe  Bickings said, "I thought we played fairly well against Bell City.  We made a little adjustment to our press after the 1st quarter that really helped us out to put more pressure on the ball.  I also thought we shared the basketball well too.  We had 14 different players score in the game with only 2 of them scoring double digits.  Sharing the basketball and moving on offense and pressuring the basketball on defense is what we have to do to be successful.  Now we are moving on to get ready for Oak Ridge at Oak Ridge which will not be an easy task."

In the feature game, Oran led 33-11 after one and 55-27 at the break on its way to 34 point win.

Ty Johnson led all scorers with 27 and had a double-double with 12 rebounds, hit three from beyond the arc.   Tyson Goodale poured in 23 and had eight boards.  Langdon Scheeter had 13 points, including a trey and a team-high six assists.

Cooper Priggel scored nine, all from beyond the arch.  Dane Shands had eight, with two being three-pointers.  Samuel Shoemaker and Cameron Westrich each added a field goal.

They were 25-38 from inside the arc for 65.8%, 9 of 28 from beyond for 32.1% and 7 of 8 from the line for 85.1%.

They outrebounded the Cubs 30-18 and forced 28 turnovers while committing 12 of their own.

Coach Joe Shoemaker said, "The boys came out ready to play and we were able to create some easy point off of turnovers.  This got us in a good offensive rhythm. We have a good conference opponent coming up next and we will need to have a good practice Monday prior to that game."

The boys will travel to Oak Ridge on Tuesday.  Game time is 6 pm.
