Lady Eagles advance at Charleston

On Saturday, the Oran High School girls varsity basketball team opened the 2020 Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament with a victory.  The top-seeded Lady Eagles defeated the eighth-seeded East Prairie Eagles by a score of 55-9.

Oran led 18-2 after one and 41-3 at the half.  The clock ran the entire second half as Oran took the 46 point win.

Katie Webb led all scorers with 11, including a trey and made both of her free throw attempts.  Kaylee Payne had 10.

Grace Davis had eight points.  Heather Gosche and Mallory Lowes had six apiece.  Taylor Lowes and Kennedi McVay each added four.  Paige Bradley, Hope Woodfin and Allysa Spane all made a field goal to round out the scoring.

They were 2-2 from the line.

Coach Lary Boshell said, "I was pleased how we came out and played hard, executed our offense and defense and we were able to get everyone a lot of playing time and a little bit of rest for our starters as we have played four games in six days.  Hopefully, we can come out Monday night and play well against Delta.  It is hard to beat a good team three times in a season so we are going to give it all we have got."

They improved to 13-3 and will face Delta tonight (Monday) at 6:30 pm.
