Oran Sweeps SCC

In the final regular season games for the JHBB teams and the season opener for the HSGB varsity all 3 came up victorious against conference foe Scott County Central.

In the first game, the 7th grade boys were able pick up their second consecutive victory, this time by a score of 33-26.  Oran was led in scoring by Tyson Loper with 12 points and Gabe Fox added 11.  The younger Eagles are now 3-3 in the Scott-Miss and 7-5 in all games.

The 8th grade game looked as if it would be a blowout as Oran started out on a 10-0 run but allowed the Braves to creep back in it.  At halftime the Eagles lead was down to 1 at 19-18.  However, a motivational speech during the break by Head Coach Joe Shoemaker fired up his squad and with less than 5 minutes gone in the 3rd quarter Oran led 35-20 and the game was all but over.  The Eagles cruised to a 50-20 win.  Jacob Shoemaker was high scorer with 33 as Oran improved their overall record to 9-3 and 3-3 in conference.

Both junior high teams will be back in action the week of December 8th in Scott City for the Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament.

In the final game of the evening the Lady Eagles also jumped out to a 10-0 lead but unlike the 8th grade boys, the girls were never threatened afterwards.  Oran led 13-3 after 1 and 25-12 at the half.  They kept the pressure on in the 2nd half and ended up winning 51-18.  Allie Cummings had 20 and Tatum May added 15 to pace the victors in scoring.

The high school girls' are 1-0 in conference and 1-0 overall and will be back in action Monday, December 8th in the Lady Devil Invitational at Chaffee where they will play Puxico at 6:15 pm.
