HSBB: Varsity Picks up Conference Win

The Oran Eagles picked their first conference win of the season on Tuesday night with a 61-48 home victory over the East Prairie Eagles.

Oran held a slim 25-20 halftime lead but used a 12-4 run to open the 3rd quarter and hit their free throws down the stretch to come away with the double digit victory.

Hunter Schlosser paced the Eagles (3-3,1-1) in scoring with 24 points.  He was 3-7 from behind the arc and 5-6 from the free throw line.  He also led the team in rebounds with 9.  Max Priggel had 18 points.  He made 3 of 4 free throws and dished out a team-leading 6 assists.  Jacob Priggel, whose playing time was limited due to illness, chipped in 13 points including 4 for 4 from the charity stripe.  The Priggels were 4 for 4 from the free throw line in the waning moments.

As a team the Eagles shot 75% on free throws (12-16).

The junior varsity Eagles fell in their contest 51-21.

The game was all but over by the end of the 1st quarter.  In that quarter Oran committed two fouls, took two time outs and scored just two points and were down 19-2.  The Eagles trailed by 25 at half and there was a running clock during much of the final period.

Oran (2-3, 0-2) was led by Cole Priggel with 12 points.

They will be back in action at 5:30 pm on Thursday at Advance in the consolation final of the Advance junior varsity tournament.  They will be taking on Chaffee.

The varsity will next play on Friday as they host Delta at 6 pm.  Delta does not have a junior varsity team.
