Eagles Drop Opener in Lady Devil Invitational

Poor shooting by the Eagles and 15-5 made free throw advantage for Puxico contributed greatly in Oran's upset loss 51-47 to the Indians on Monday night in the first round of the Lady Devil Invitational at Chaffee.

#4 Oran led #5 Puxico 10-7 after the first period but the Indians outscored the Eagles 44-37 the rest of the way.

Oran was whistled for 23 fouls, which allowed Puxico to shoot 34 free throws.  They made only 15 for 44% but it was good enough.  The Eagles shot 5 of 10 for 50% on 15 Indian fouls.  Overall the Lady Eagles shot only 37% from inside the arc and 25% from beyond.

Allison Cummins had a double-double for Oran with 19 points and 13 rebounds.  Ashlyn McIntosh added 12 points before fouling out in the fourth quarter.

Next up for the Lady Eagles (1-1) will be the East Prairie Eagles on Wednesday night at 6:30 pm in a consolation semifinal.
