Cold Shooting Lady Eagles Fall to Chaffee

The #4 seed Oran Lady Eagles had a shot to upset the top seed Chaffee Red Devils tonight in their semi final matchup of the Scott-Miss Conference Tournament.  In fact, they had lots of shots, however most were missed.

On the night Oran shot a dismal 19% from the field and a woeful 23% from the free throw line (8-41 and 3-13 respectively) and lost by the score of 51-31.

Chaffee jumped out to a 6-0 lead but the Eagles responded with an 8-1 run of their own and led 8-7.  That would be the final lead of the night for Oran as the Red Devils scored the final 10 points of the quarter to take a 17-8 lead after one.

Oran started the 2nd period on a 5-2 run to cut the lead to six 19-13 but that was as close as it would get the rest of the way.  Chaffee was on top 27-19 at the intermission.

A 10-4 Devil third quarter, all but sealed the Eagle fate.

Oran was led by Ashlyn McIntosh who managed a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The varsity Lady Eagles are now 8-3 and will take on the #2 seed Kelly Hawks in the third place game tomorrow at 7pm.

At 4 pm the #2 seed jv Eagles will on the #4 seed East Prairie Eagles for the 3rd place trophy in the younger division.
