Lady Eagles fall in third place games

Both the junior varsity and the varsity Oran Lady Eagles were vying for third place trophies on Friday night. Unfortunately, both were unsuccessful.

In the early contest the jv team had trouble scoring but so did East Prairie. Neither team was able to hit a field goal in the first quarter but the red Eagles hit on two free throw attempts.  At the half Oran trailed 9-4.

The blue Eagles ended up on the short end of a 26-19 score.  Oran made only 1 of 12 free throws on the night.

Olivia Schlosser led the jv Lady Eagles, now 2-2, with 7 points.

In the varsity match-up against Kelly, it was a valiant effort by a short-handed Eagle squad that just couldn't pull off the upset.

Oran was limited to only 5 players after an injury to Allie Cummins on Thursday night forced her to miss last night's game.

The Eagles trailed by 6 at half time, 28-22, and cut the lead to 3 after three, 39-36.

In the fourth quarter, Oran ran out of gas though, losing 52-40.

For the Lady Eagles (8-4), Ashlyn McIntosh scored 16.  McIntosh and Tatum May grabbed 6 rebounds each.

The girls will be back in action on Monday as they travel to state-ranked Saxony Lutheran.  Game time is 6 pm.
