Woodland held a slim 20-18 lead after the first quarter but came out on fire to open the second. A 10-0 run by the visitors in the first minute led to a Joe Shoemaker time out. Another basket made the score 32-18 and the Eagles looked to be on the brink of being blown out. Oran was able to stem the tide and eventually chip the lead back to single digits trailing 36-29 at the half.
The Eagles were able to draw it even closer in the third behind by only one at the buzzer 44-43.
In the early minutes of the final period Oran took their first lead since the waning moments of the first period. The game went back and forth with both teams missing on opportunities to extend small advantages until, with Oran leading, Woodland was forced to foul. Just like the final two games of the Christmas tournament the Eagles were able to make their free throws and seal the game.
Oran hit 10-12 chances from the charity stripe in the final quarter. Jacob Priggel was 6-8 including 4 in a row to close out the game. Max Priggel hit both of his in the last 8 minutes while Garrison Mangles made his lone attempt. As a team, the Eagles his 18-20 from the line for an outstanding 90%.
Leading the way once again was Jacob Priggel with 28 points. Hunter Schlosser chipped in 17 and grabbed a team high 8 rebounds for Oran who is now 8-4 on the season.
The Eagle Junior Varsity also picked up a victory against Woodland. An 18-10 fourth quarter advantage in scoring by Oran provided the final margin in the 57-49 win.
The Eagles, now 4-3, were led in scoring by Layne Johnson's 24 while Cole Priggel dumped in 19.
The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday when they host the Bernie Mules at 6 pm.
